Paolo's Story

Paul Scardina, "Paolo" was born in Youngstown, Ohio, where his father was a builder and developer. It was during those early years while observing his father's dedication to the built environment that young Paolo began to value the creative process of bringing homes into peoples' lives. Now Paolo brings over a quarter of a century of experience to the world of design. In all of his work, Paolo underscores the value of spaces tailored to individual needs, fresh in style, healthy to live in, inexpensive to operate, and that cause minimal damage to the environment.

He began his career in 1982 in San Francisco, California advancing to director of commercial design with Ostgren Associates Inc. He was involved in the design and management of over three million square feet of corporate and government sector space. In 1990, he relocated to Portland, Oregon and shifted his focus to design projects that are a better fit for his creative interests. Ultimately, he formed Paolo Design Group building a portfolio of nearly 600 projects located throughout Oregon and Washington.  Paolo relocated to Sedona, Arizona in 2011 to celebrate the community's emphasis on creativity, art, architecture, and, above all, imagination!

Paolo's education includes a Bachelor of Interior Design Degree from Western Design Institute, San Francisco, California; a Master of Fine Arts Degree from Kent State University, Kent, Ohio; and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Hiram College, Hiram, Ohio. He is also a professional member in good standing and past president of the (1998-1999) Oregon Chapter of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and received his National Council of Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) Certification.
