Sungari Pearl Restaurant/ "Seres"
From signage to seating, designer Paolo of Paolo Design Group works with Sungari Pearl Restaurant, in Portland's upscale Pearl District, to showcase classic gourmet Szechwan food in an unassuming yet graceful environment. Inspiration for the design was easily found in the name Sungari, a river in Northern China translated to mean "humble elegance". The symbolism of the Sungari River is woven throughout with the use of converging and diverging rhythms and forms. Tight-stretched fabric panels subtly divide the dining areas while enhancing the mountain-like masses. Like the spellbinding mood of a river, the design of Sungari Pearl urges you to linger longer in the warm embrace of her inner beauty.  The restaurant has now changed it's name from Sungari Pearl to "Seres."
