Green Building Design & Certification

For homeowners who share the passion for sustainable living, Paolo Design Group incorporates green building technologies for whole homes, remodels, and commercial projects. Green buildings eliminate negative environmental impact through skillful, sensitive design, and they bring people together with the natural environment. Our qualified staff will shepherd you through LEED for Homes, LEED for ID + C (Interior Design + Construction), Earth Advantage, or Energy Star certifications, which ever you prefer.
LEED for Homes and other levels of Certification: LEED for Homes is a voluntary rating system that promotes the design and construction of high-performance green homes and commercial spaces. How important is certification? LEED certification is something that consumers can look for to readily identify homes that have been third-party inspected, performance-tested and certified as truly green homes that will perform better than standard homes. Homeowners using LEED are able to differentiate their homes and business spaces as among the best on the market. LEED projects are safer, healthier, more comfortable and more durable than conventional construction. They have lower energy and water bills, reduced greenhouse gas emissions and fewer problems with mold, mildew and indoor toxins. Earth Advantage and Energy Star certifications also provide that third party endorsement.
Passive Solar Design: Homeowners with empty lots or existing houses that have good exposure to the southern sun can take advantage of passive solar technology. Passive solar buildings aim to maintain interior thermal comfort throughout the sun's daily and annual cycles whilst reducing the requirement for active heating and cooling systems. Passive solar building design is one part of green building design, and does not include active systems such as mechanical ventilation or photovoltaic solutions. We look through the “Passive Solar Design” prism with every project, large or small, to find the best possible methods to capture the sun’s rays.
The "Net-zero" challenge: Green building designers, like Paolo Design Group, continually aim for higher and more rigorous standards for net-zero energy use, ultra-low water use, high-efficient resource consumption and net-zero carbon emissions. Passive House design, for example, results in ultra-low energy building that require little energy for space heating or cooling, and water heating. Let us know if you share this passion for the highest standards so that we may target then into the design for your custom home or remodel.
Integrated Design and Comprehensive Service: Integrated design involves team work between designer, engineers, contractors, suppliers and more, and is vital to the success of your project. Paolo Design Group provides comprehensive service that includes continuous project management, coordination of all the disciplines, building design documents and interior design documents and specifications. We will make sure your home has design integrity inside and out from the day you decide to move forward with your project to the day you move in.
